Baby Things

For us Moms, the moment we get pregnant , we are thinking of stuffs to buy and start shopping for baby things. There's a lot of shopping to do and it takes a lot of time exploring your options and shopping for the best ...

It is always good to buy some of the baby things in advance as you will be busy in doing things when the baby arrives. and you wouldn't have the time to do detailed shopping. Here's a list that you will need to buy before the baby is born.

List of things for newborn babies:

  1. Crib. It took me forever choosing the right crib for my ZAKI.( is there such thing such as a right crib ? hehe.. . I bought GRACO PACK 'N PLAY PLAYARD

Perfect for traveling, the Pack 'N Play Playard from Graco sets up in less than a minute! Then use the push button fold which makes taking down your portable playard even easier. Whether outside or inside as a playard or crib, this versatile portable crib keeps mom and baby happy!

Features:
  • Includes handy storage and carry bag
  • Available with optional Pack N' Play Sheets
  • Tan frame with jungle animal print fabric
  • Playard for children less than 35” tall and less than 30 lbs
  • Bassinet for children less than 15 lbs
  • Removable full-size bassinet
  • Wind up mobile with removable soft toys
  • Simple push-button fold
  • Locking wheels for easy mobility
  • Mesh sides for ventilation
This is how it looks like when you remove the bassinet and ofcourse you will only take off the bassinet when your baby starts crawling.. this is where he will play around and learn to walk too.
*The Fisher Price toy attached is not included..It was a gift from ZAKI'S Ninang E on his christening day.*thanks Ninang E!

You will aslo have to buy crib mattress and linens, baby pillows and blankets as well..

2. Bottles. It also took me awhile to choose which bottle to use. PLAYTEX VENTAIRE or AVENT. well guess what? I ended up buying PLAYTEX VENTAIRE because hubby said it's a little cheaper than AVENT and they have the same function . both bottles reduce colic to babies.

PLAYTEX VENTAIRE . Provides superior colic reduction, plus helps prevent ear infections. which I love.:)
PLAYTEX DROP INS
the liners and nipples are Bisphenol-A Free and Phthalate Free. DROP INS is best for travelling too...

Check out this link to learn more about PLAYTEX VENTAIRE

although, after awhile before my baby ZAKI turned one, I changed his bottles to AVENT.. why? because I want to... hehe..lol!

well yeah seriously.. I changed it because playtex ventaire have a vent in the bottom that sucks the air out as baby sucks and so it comes with additional parts (rings),little crevices of the air vents. which you will also need to make sure that the bottles are constructed properly to prevent leaks. and if your nanny did not properly assemble it the milk will spill all over...But all in all its a god buy! :)

now.. let's talk about AVENT...

Clinical studies show that the AVENT bottle is clinically proven to reduce fussing* and colic.Fussing is reduced especially at night.

Avent's patented anti-vacuum skirt valve prevents our baby from swallowing air during feeding and developing painful gas. The nipples are available in slow flow, medium flow, fast flow and variable flow, meaning there is a speed that will work for almost any baby....Read more about AVENT

I would say AVENT is the best buy..It's really worth every cent:)

*there are also other anti colic bottles to choose from such as PIGEON, DR. BROWNS and TOMMEE TIPPEE* which has good feedback too..:)

3. Sterilizer. bought Chicco for ZAKI. there's lot of sterilizer.. you name it..! but i'd say this is the smartest choice. at first, I was a bit hesitant because I was thinking if it would fit PLAYTEX bottles.. i tried to put them on and it did fit.. so i bought it !and until now... I am still using this and it fits AVENT bottles too!..

The Chicco Electric Steam Sterilizer for feeding bottles can hold up to a maximum of of 8 regular-neck feeding bottles and 6 wide-neck feeding bottles (like AVENT and PLAYTEX)

4. Stroller. bought CHICCO LITEWAY STROLLER. very useful especially to us, as we love travelling and going out almost every weekend. its very handy! very LIGHT! so easy to carry...2 THUMBS UP for this!!!!

TIP!!
It would be best if you buy a stroller travel bag so it would be easier to carry..BEST FOR TRAVELLERS like us!!!!

check this out bought this item from brusselsprouts

also bought drink and stroll from them... it has a big pocket for a sippy cup / bottle; a key holder; a celphone pocket and a hook - where you can hang your shopping bags .

its a must have !!!!

5. Diapers.. Ofcourse!

I used Prokids during my baby's first few months bec their newborn size is just right for a newborn..I guess! because some are too large. based from experience .. because when my eldest (ZOIE) was born (year 2000) we have tried several diapers and realized that PROKIDS has the best size for newborn i suppose..
I have tried using HUGGIES and DRYPERS too and their good.. but if you go for quality and BUDGET wise.. go for EQ DRY.. it's really good it doesnt leak easily.

6. blankets, comforter, pillows and all those stuff...make sure you have all these..

I guess I have covered all the major things that a baby needs...:)

....I bought this NIVEA BABY stuffs (lotion, powder,etc...) for ZAKI but didnt get to use them all.. his pedia didnt allow him to use too much of these.. cologne is ok though..love love the scent of ENFANT.

hope this helps.. wink:)
